Privacy Policy
Below the Slab collects no personal information: the site has no forms, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising cookies.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. The site is a set of static pages. It has no sign-up, comment or message forms, no accounts, no newsletter and no search box, so there is nowhere to type personal details. The pages run no analytics, tracking or advertising scripts and set no cookies. The only script on each page is structured data that describes the page to search engines; it does nothing in your browser.
Fonts are the ones already on your device, and every photo, illustration and the logo are served from this site's own address. The one exception is the thumbnail on a guide's video, explained below.
Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered by a hosting provider. Like any web server, the provider's systems receive standard request details when a page loads: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. The provider uses these to deliver pages, keep the site running and protect it from abuse, under its own privacy terms. This site does not combine that data with anything else or use it to build profiles.
Videos
Some guides include a video hosted on YouTube. Until you press play, the page shows only the video's thumbnail image, which your browser fetches from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com); that request shares your IP address and browser details with YouTube, but no YouTube player, script or cookie is loaded. When you press play, the video loads in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that playback.
Links to other sites
Guides link to government agencies, utilities, standards bodies, makers' manuals and, on five city-water pages, to SoftPro Water Systems, a store owned by the same team as this site. When you follow a link, the other site sees only this site's address, not the page you came from, and its own privacy policy applies. Purchases at the store are handled entirely by the store.
Changes
If the site adds anything that collects data, such as a form or an analytics tool, this page will be updated before it goes live. See the About page and the ownership disclosure for who runs the site.
